Those who live in the Foxworth Fire Protection District will be seeing a decrease in their homeowners insurance thanks to the district increasing their public fire protection classification from eighth class to seventh class.
The fire department did the water test on Feb. 12. In order to pass the test the fire department has to be able to have water run continuously for an hour which is equivalent to 16,500 gallons of water, with the water flow beginning within five minutes of being on scene. Other departments are able to help with the water test as long as the other departments normally work with Foxworth. At the site there were trucks and members there from Tri-Community, South Marion, Morgantown and Southwest Marion volunteer fire departments to assist.
Stephen Applewhite from the Miss. State Rating Bureau was on the scene in Foxworth for the testing. Applewhite said he would take the information gathered from the testing and would advise the results the following.
In the statement released by the bureau on Feb. 19, it states, “Any insurance contracts covering dwellings located in this District may be endorsed from February 18, 2021, on a pro rata basis to take advantage of the current fire premiums indicated in our Mississippi Dwelling Manual.”
Foxworth Fire Department Chief Mickey Graham was not available for comment.
