A Foxworth man is in jail facing charges of sexual battery and attempted rape with a $250,000 cash bond for each charge.
Benito Guerrero, 30, was arrested on Jan. 7 on the charges stemming from an investigation. The Marion County Sheriff’s Office was made aware of the matter in September, but it took until January for the investigation to yield enough evidence to make the arrest.
The victim is a young juvenile.
Guerrero's initial appearance was scheduled for Friday night, but the suspect does not speak English. The hearing was continued until a translator is available to talk to him.
The day after he was arrested, the Department of U.S. Citizens and Immigration Services placed a hold on the suspect.
The Marion County Sheriff’s Office is still investigating the matter.
