Friday night’s showdown against the 11-win Pass Christian Pirates was a tale of two halves for the top-ranked team in Class 4A. Columbia couldn’t get out of its own way throughout the first half and led just 7-0 before halftime before exploding for 34 points over the next 18 minutes of game time to blow out the Pirates 41-6.

A Hattiesburg man who was found to be in possession of nearly 700 grams of methamphetamine and two firearms while driving a stolen vehicle three years ago was sentenced to serve 10 years in prison last week.
