Ward 3 resident wants greater police presence

A Ward 3 resident is asking for a greater police presence in her neighborhood.
Stephanie Wilson met with the Columbia Board of Aldermen last week and also addressed issues from loose dogs to drainage.
Police Chief Mike Cooper said his officers would be glad to patrol the area, but in the past it was discouraged.

Almost two years ago I visited my hometown of Kent, Ohio. One Sunday as I walked into church, there was an old familiar face. Time had dimmed the eyes and the man that I knew in junior high school more than 40 years ago. His hair was gray and he was a little stooped over; after all, he was in his 80s now.

Working people don’t get raises when taxes hiked

During the last few years, I have noticed an ever increasing amount of double-standard views on an also ever-increasing number of topics. The topic for my soapbox rant is the use of double standards in our tax system. There are a number of large corporations in our state that wish to announce their support for an increase in fuel tax.
