Voting locations for municipal elections are being consolidated for 2025, and all voters will cast their ballot at the Columbia Exposition Center.
City elections previously were conducted at four different voting locations, but this change is expected to streamline the process, make things easier for Columbians and save money.
Columbia Mayor Justin McKenzie said Circuit Clerk Janette Nolan’s budget projections for the proposal could save the city between $10,000 and $15,000 each election cycle.
The adjustment will not affect county or state elections.
The city has also renewed its contract with Nolan to proceed with the municipal elections for 2025.
“We will have someone who is familiar with all of the election regulations and laws and is qualified to ensure the election is ran as transparent as it should be,” McKenzie said of Nolan.
