The Nation's Weather for Tuesday, January 24, 2023
_____
NATIONAL SUMMARY
In the wake of a coastal system in the Northeast, a few snow
showers will linger in upstate New York tomorrow, with an
inch or two of accumulation possible. Otherwise, dry
conditions are likely along the Atlantic coast. In the
southern Plains, an intensifying area of low pressure will
pull in cold air, leading to a swath of snow extending from
West Texas through Oklahoma and into northwestern Arkansas
and southwestern Missouri during the evening. Farther south,
heavy rain across Texas can lead to a flood threat. Along
the Gulf coast, stretching from Texas to the western Florida
Panhandle, severe thunderstorms can produce damaging winds
and a few tornadoes. Generally calm conditions are likely in
the West, with light snow in eastern Montana and gusty winds
in Southern California.
