The Nation's Weather for Tuesday, January 9, 2024
_____
NATIONAL SUMMARY
A potent storm will bring rain and thunderstorms across the
Southeast and mid-Atlantic tomorrow, which can lead to
flooding concerns for some, especially in low-lying and poor
drainage areas. Thunderstorms may become severe from
southern Alabama to eastern North Carolina, and can bring
flooding downpours, damaging wind gusts and even isolated
tornadoes. A wide swath of snow can spread across portions
of the Midwest and western Great Lakes. Travel can become
dangerous at times, especially across northern Missouri and
Illinois. Rain will begin to move farther north into the
Northeast late in the day, and an initial quick burst of
snow could lead to slippery conditions in places. Meanwhile,
another storm will spread rain and mountain snow across the
Northwest and the northern Rockies.
