The Nation's Weather for Wednesday, January 17, 2024
_____
NATIONAL SUMMARY
As another round of energy pivots into the Pacific Northwest
tomorrow, rain will pick up in intensity along the coast
from Washington into far Northern California. Areas of
freezing rain will make for difficult travel at times around
the central and eastern part of the Washington-Oregon
border. East of there, colder air in place will lead to snow
at times for many from the Cascades across much of the
Intermountain West and into western Nebraska. The rest of
the West should be dry outside of early showers in parts of
Central California, but in the East, lake-effect snow will
continue off the Great Lakes, with most places away from the
lakes staying dry. Locations from New England through the
southern tier also should remain generally dry.
