NATIONAL SUMMARY
Helene can bring flooding and isolated tornadoes to southern
Virginia and central and eastern North Carolina tomorrow.
Flooding and power outages can occur in the North Carolina
mountains. Heavy rain will bring flooding and flash flooding
to southern Missouri, northern Arkansas, southern Illinois,
southwestern Indiana, all of Kentucky and Tennessee,
southern West Virginia and western Virginia. On the
northeastern side of Helene, spotty showers can occur as far
northeast as southern portions of Pennsylvania and New
Jersey. Elsewhere, a couple of thunderstorms will rumble
through central and South Florida. A few spotty showers will
dampen the Washington Cascades and parts of northwestern
Oregon during the morning hours. Record-challenging heat
will continue in portions of the Desert Southwest.
