The Nation's Weather for Wednesday, March 19, 2025
_____
NATIONAL SUMMARY
There can be hazardous blizzard conditions of heavy snow,
reduced visibility and blowing and drifting snow from
eastern Nebraska into Iowa tomorrow. That same storm is
expected to bring thunderstorms from the Mississippi River
eastward from Iowa to Arkansas. These may bring hail,
localized damaging winds and isolated tornadoes into
tomorrow evening. Gusty winds above 40 mph are expected
across the Plains into the Midwest. These same high winds
are expected to result in an elevated wildfire risk from
eastern New Mexico into the southern Plains. Blowing dust
from dry soil can reduce air quality outside of any smoke
from wildfires. Ahead of the storm in the East, warm air
will intrude into some of the Northeast. Otherwise, periods
of rain can fall across the Pacific Northwest.
