The Nation's Weather for Thursday, May 5, 2022
_____
NATIONAL SUMMARY
Strong-to-severe thunderstorms will develop tomorrow,
overspreading portions of Texas, Oklahoma, Louisiana,
Arkansas, Missouri and Illinois. Damaging winds and flash
flooding will be the primary threats from these storms, but
a few tornadoes and some hail are also possible. In the
Pacific Northwest, a storm system moving onshore will bring
rain and mountain snow to the region. While populated areas
at low elevations will receive rain, snow levels are likely
to fall below pass elevations, leading to disrupted travel
as the storm arrives. Dry and warm conditions will remain in
place across New Mexico and Arizona. While winds are
expected to be calm compared to recent days, dry weather may
allow for new wildfires to spark in the area.
