The Nation's Weather for Tuesday, August 16, 2022
_____
NATIONAL SUMMARY
As a storm system approaches the Atlantic coast, areas of
showers are expected tomorrow in the mid-Atlantic and the
Northeast. Farther south, afternoon thunderstorms are
expected. In portions of the central United States,
especially near Missouri, heavier rainfall and thunderstorms
are expected to move eastward throughout the day. Localized
flooding is possible here, especially in locations such as
St. Louis, where very heavy rainfall has already fallen
recently. In Texas, a tropical rainstorm will continue to
bring periods of rain along the Rio Grande, especially
during the morning hours as the system moves into Mexico.
Across the Southwest, copious amounts of tropical moisture
will continue to fuel monsoon-driven showers and
thunderstorms, with a continued risk of flash flooding.
