Funeral services were held at 3 p.m. on Wednesday, March 1, 2023, at Hathorn Funeral Home for Betty L. Stewart, 67, of Columbia, who died on Sunday, Feb. 26. Burial followed in Good Hope Cemetery. Rev. Terry Kelly will officiate the services. Visitation was held from 1 p.m. until 3 p.m. on Wednesday, March 1, 2023 at Hathorn Funeral Home.
She was born in Marion County and loved to travel. She lived in several different states and made friends everywhere she went. She worked as a C.N.A. and loved taking care of those around her. She loved woodworking and having immaculate finger nails. She didn’t have any children but considered all of her nieces and nephews to be her children.
She was preceded in death by her father, John “Buster” Douglas Powell.
Survivors include her mother, Emily L. Powell; four sisters, Lela Smith (Rickey), Peggy Ray (Edward), Carolyn Graham and Lawanda Boudreaux (Dewayne); four nieces, Penny Waldrup (Kevin), Debra Burge (Stephen), Kathryn Ray (Jason) and Heather Glover (Jonathan); and four nephews, Edward Ray, John Boudreaux, Jacob Boudreaux and Karter Glover.
Pallbearers were Dewayne Boudreaux, John Boudreaux, Jonathan Glover, Stephen Burge, Kevin Waldrup and Karter Glover.
