Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. on Tuesday, Feb. 14, 2023, at Colonial Funeral Home for Buddy Carroll Bracey, 73, of Hurricane Creek community, who passed away on Sunday, Feb. 12, surrounded by his family at his home. Burial followed in Hurricane Creek Cemetery. Rev. Jerron Carney and Rev. Zach Smith officiated at the services. Visitation was held from 5 p.m. until 9 p.m. on Monday, Feb. 13, at Colonial Funeral Home.
He was a graduate of West Marion High School and Southwest Community College. He proudly served six years in the Army National Guard and worked as a Drilling Superintendent with various companies including Exxon from where he retired. In his later years, Buddy worked at Woodlawn Church where he was a member and faithfully attended. Buddy enjoyed hunting and fishing, and as a loving family man, he enjoyed his grandchildren and great-grandchildren to the fullest.
He was preceded in death by an infant son; his son, Johnathan Michael Bracey, and parents, J.C. Bracey and Marvin Marie Dunaway Bracey.
His memory will be forever cherished by his high school sweetheart and wife of 53 years, Linda C. Forbes Bracey; son, Chris Bracey (Samantha); sister, Judy Clifford (Ric); three grandchildren, Lauren M. Bracey, Sara E. Bracey Hall (Tyler) and Hagen M. Bracey; great-grandchildren, Sawyer Barrett, Tatum Barrett and Locklyn Hall; and great-granddaughter on the way, Blakely Hall.
Pallbearers were Joe Bracey, Tim Bracey, Randy Bracey, Michael Bracey, Andrew Forbes and Jason McKenzie. Honorary pallbearers were Dewayne Hamilton and Darrell Bracey.
