Carol “Mommoms” Ann Edwards
79, Slidell, La.
A celebration of life will be held in the coming weeks at the Campbell family home in Slidell, La. for Carol Ann Edwards, 79, who died Wednesday, March 15, 2023, in New Orleans, La. A private visitation was held Saturday, March 18, 2023, at Honaker Funeral Home in Slidell, La.
Carol, affectionately known as “Mommoms,” was born Jan. 19, 1944, in Wilkes-Barre, Pa. She lived in Pennsylvania most of her life until moving to Louisiana in 2001.
Carol was a loving daughter, sister, mother, grandmother and great grandmother whose whole world revolved around her family. She never met a stranger and treated everyone like family, making it a point to get gifts for everyone she came into regular contact with, even baking pies and getting wine for all of her doctors and nurses. With a big, loving heart and the gift to gab, she had a special way of connecting with people that left a lasting impression.
She worked as a waitress most of her life and loved every single minute of it. She enjoyed getting to know people, filling them up with food and giving her grandchildren a fistful of ones whenever they needed some spending money. Her grandson, Joshua, always joked with her about it, referring to it as her “stripper money.”
She loved to have a good time and was the life of every party. She loved to dance, play cards and, above all else, drink Miller Lite.
She loved to get around and go shopping every chance she got, and in her later years, she would ride her motorized scooter all over Slidell’s streets. Her family always got a kick out of their friends calling or texting about how they saw her riding around. She always wanted to be outside and enjoyed gardening, walking the family dogs and rocking on her bench swing while reading a good book or doing crossword puzzles. She loved all of the family dogs, including Dallas, Cocoa, Xena and Reese’s.
Carol was preceded in death by her father, Frank J. Williams; mother, Esther M. Broome Williams; and brothers, David Williams (Lori) and Johnny Williams (Lisa).
She is survived by her twin sister, Celestine Mary Wilce (Donald); brothers, Mark Williams (Ginny) and Thomas Williams (Mary); daughter, Hiedi Campbell (Michael); six grandchildren, Brandy Hyson (Eric), Jasmine Campbell, Michael Campbell Jr., Damian Campbell (Kandace), Desearee’Ann Barr (Jason) and Joshua Campbell; and eight great-grandchildren, Madison Combs, Alayah Combs, Trinity Espinosa, Isaiah Espinosa, Ivy Campbell, Benjamin Campbell, Easton Barr and Elliana Barr.
Her ashes will be laid to rest in her home state of Pennsylvania with her family. Her family thanks The Sanctuary at Passages Hospice for the empathetic and superior care it provided in Carol’s final days.
Her family can’t wait to see her again in heaven. Give us just five more minutes.
