Funeral services were held at noon on Saturday, July 13, 2024, at The Church on Main for Elaine Gartman Hartzog, 95, of Columbia, who passed away on Monday, July 8, in Columbia. Burial followed in Hillcrest Memorial Gardens in Tylertown. Rev. Brian Stewart and Bro. Harold Thornton officiated at the services. Paul Clark provided special music. Visitation was held from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m. on Friday, July 12, at The Church on Main.
She was preceded in death by her two husbands, Robert E. Hartzog Sr. and Jessie K. Gartman; father, Burley M. Pittman; mother, Gertrude Luter Pittman; grandchild, Centeral Martin; great-great-grandchild, Alyssa Martin; three brothers, Percy P. Pittman (Thelma), Willie L Pittman and James C Pittman; and five sisters, Sarah M. Thornton, Wilda P. Hampton, Isabell P. Martin, Elizabeth P. Mason and Mable P. Flanagan.
Survivors include her daughter, Betty L. Ullman (Ronald); grandchildren, Vickie D. Hopper (Eddie), Billy Martin (Ashley), Eugene Ullman (Erica), Anthony Ullman (Heather) and Teresa Peak (Christopher); nine great-grandchildren, Jonathan Martin, Josh Martin (Mallory), Anthony Martin, Michael Hopper, Brianna Lamb, Arhonda Martin, Jade Martin, Kenzie Martin and Mary Hopper; nine great-great-grandchildren; and a host of nephews and nieces.
Pallbearers were Anthony Ullman, Josh Martin, Jonathan Martin, Eugene Ullman, Shannon Hartzog and Christopher Peak. Honorary pallbearers were Michael Hopper and Eddie Hopper.
