Memorial services were held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, April 15, 2023, in Woodlawn Cemetery for Fred Thomas “Tommy” Stringer Jr., 66, of Columbia, who died on Monday, April 10, at his residence. 
He was a member of Calvary Baptist Church. He loved playing ball, watching sports, coaching kids, riding motorcycles, playing golf and making people laugh. His greatest joy came from his wife of 43 years, Vicky Gore Stringer, and kids he considered his own, Robbie Simmons, Leah Simmons Holmes, Tyler Simmons, Peyton Carver, Chandler Carver, Connor Green, Raliegh Simmons and Bailey Simmons. He was looking forward to seeing Trey Simmons grow up and play ball.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Fred T. Stringer and Bobbie Jo Simmons Stringer; and sister Rheba Truett.
Survivors include his wife, Vicky Gore Stringer, and a host of aunts, cousins, nieces and nephews.
