Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. on Tuesday, Nov. 28, 2023, at Hathorn Funeral Home for Irma Jean Broom, 85, of Columbia, who passed away on Sunday, Nov. 26, at her residence. Burial followed in the Broom-Stringer Family Cemetery in Columbia. Rev. Denny Patterson officiated at the services. Visitation was held from noon until the time of the services on Tuesday, Nov. 28, at Hathorn Funeral Home.
She was preceded in death by her father, Percy Bilbo Lee; mother, Emma Z. Kennedy Lee; brother, Percy Lee; and two sisters, Hilda Hall and Mary Lou Fortenberry.
Survivors include her husband, John Broom of Columbia; two sons, Jeff Broom (Renee) and Tim Broom, all of Columbia; six grandchildren, Jordan Broom (Glori), Ethan Broom, Manton Broom (Elizabeth), Rebekah Bruce (Jie), Nathanael Mote and Bradley Broom; four great-grandchildren, Haven Broom, Artemis Broom, Minerva Broom, Zander Broom; one brother-in-law, Lloyd Broom (Charlsie); one Sister-In-Law, Vera Nell Lee; and a host of Nieces & Nephews;
Pallbearers will be Jordan Broom, Ethan Broom, Manton Broom, Bradley Broom, Todd Fortenberry and Skipper Anderson. Honorary pallbearers will be Toney Hall, Kevin King, and Michael Baughman.
