Funeral services were held at 1 p.m. on Tuesday, Feb. 7, 2023, at Hathorn Funeral Home for Matthew “Matt” Thomas, 36, of Foxworth, who died on Friday, Feb. 3. Burial followed in Foxworth Cemetery. Rev. Burl Livingston and Rev. Felix Arnold officiated at the services. Visitation was held from 5 p.m. until 8 p.m. on Monday, Feb. 6, at Hathorn Funeral Home.
He was a lifelong resident of Marion County. He always enjoyed sitting on his front porch and he was an avid outdoorsman. Whether it was deer hunting, turkey shoots, fishing or mud riding, he enjoyed being outside. Everyone knew of his love for his 2002 Chevy Silverado, which he affectionately called “Baby!” But more than anything, he loved spending time with his family and especially his children.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Charlotte Renea Thomas; maternal grandparents, Charles and Loleda McLeod; and paternal grandparents, Kevin and Corinna Thomas.
Survivors include his two sons, Matthew Thomas Jr. and Cameron Cartier, both of Foxworth; daughter, Victoria Thomas of Foxworth; two step-daughters, Christin Nichols and Emalee Nichols, both of Foxworth; father, Brian Kevin Thomas (Marie) of Foxworth; fiance, Erin Nichols of Foxworth; three sisters, Heather Menard of Kokomo, Amanda Thomas of Foxworth and Tannah Simmons of Morgantown; and five nephews, BriAndon Thomas, Braylon Thomas, Bryson Thomas and Dennis Menard, all of Foxworth, and Waylon Miller, of Morgantown.
Pallbearers were David Seymour, Jamie Powell, Phillip Slocum, Frog Powell, Cameron Cartier and Clinton Faust. Honorary pallbearers were Dennis Menard and Michael Harrell.
