69, Oak Vale
Miriam Stormo Williamson, 69, of Oak Vale, passed from this life on Tuesday, Aug. 22, 2023, in Hattiesburg. She was born on Nov. 18, 1953, in Jackson to Donald H. Stormo and Joann McLain Stormo. She was the granddaughter of Paul McLain Sr. and Frances Dale McLain of Monticello and C.E. Stormo and Ethel Stormo of Minneapolis, Minn.
She was an incredibly talented person. She was a graduate of Monticello High School where she excelled in the band. She was also a graduate of Jackson Commercial College. She was employed for many years in the banking business.
She was a faithful member of Oak Vale Baptist Church where she served as organist. She loved to make and bake things. She loved to prepare meals for families who had lost loved ones or for the sick. She loved her family, but most of all, she loved her Lord and Savior. She loved the beach, the creek and she loved to fish.
She was preceded in death by her parents; brother, Joe Stormo (Brenda); nephew, Scott Stormo; stepmother, Elizabeth McCurley Stormo; stepsister, Margaret McCurley Williamson; brother in-law, Tim Williamson; and father in-law, Joe Thomas.
Those left to cherish her memories are her husband of 51 years, Emmitt Ray Williamson; daughter, Andrea Bessonette (Nathan) of Oak Vale; son, Damon Williamson (April) of Jacksonville, N.C.; brothers, Donald B Stormo (Margaret) of Atlanta, Ga., and Jimmy Stormo (Angel) of New Orleans; grandchildren, Carleigh Barnes (Dawson) and Brooklyn Bessonette, both of Oak Vale, and Dakota Wiliamson and Sydneigh Williamson, both of Raleigh, N.C., and Cannon Williamson of Jacksonville, N.C.; great-grandson, Reese Barnes of Oak Vale; mother-in-law, Willie Faye Thomas; sister in-law, Brenda Stormo of Monticello; brother in-law, Larry Wiliamson (Pam) of Carson; sister in-law, Jean Turnage (Pat) of Oak vale; best friends, Penny Anthony, Kelly Rutland, Kim Cleland and Charlotte Freeman; and many nephews and nieces.
Thanks to all doctors, nurses and staff at Merit Health Wesley and especially Eric Lamb, Kara Smith, and a most special thanks to Kim Cleland and Laura Riley for being with Emmitt Ray during the last hour of Miriam’s life.
