Nelda Jo Bass

Funeral services were held at 1 p.m. on Monday, Feb. 20, 2023, at Emmanuel Baptist Church for Nelda Jo Bass, 71, of Columbia, who died on Thursday, Feb. 16, at her residence. Burial followed in Emmanuel Baptist Church Cemetery. Rev. Jeffery Bass and Rev. Valton Douglas officiated at the services. Visitation was held from 11 a.m. until the time of the services on Monday, Feb. 20, at Emmanuel Baptist Church.
Born and reared in Marion County, she was a lifetime resident. She loved crafting and making quilts, dolls, floral arrangements and many other things. She enjoyed spending time in her yard, and the family jokes that she could burn anything! She was a devoted wife and mother, and she loved investing time into her grandchildren. She was a member of the Eastern Star Carley Lodge. She was a longtime and faithful member of Emmanuel Baptist Church.
She was preceded in death by her parents, John Richard Webster Sr. and Doris Gladys Powell Webster.
Survivors include her husband of 52 years, Lowery “Larry” Auston Bass Sr. of Columbia; one son, Lowery Auston Bass Jr. of Columbia; two daughters, Tammy Annette Bass and Tamatha Ann Aultman (Chris), both of Columbia; one brother, John Webster (Rebecca) of Columbia; one sister, Judy Goar of Columbia; seven grandchildren, Whitney Givens (Kolby), Jamie Haddox (Kayla), Ethan Bass, Adain Bass, Joanna Walden (Austin Buffington), Jordan Walden and Ann Walden, all of Columbia; five great-grandchildren, Rhett Haddox, Gunnar Givens, Kambree Haddox, Wacey Givens and Evelynn Haddox, all of Columbia; and a number of nieces and nephews.
Pallbearers were Chris Bass, Kevin Bass, Joe Goar, Eric Bass, Tyler Bass and Jason Goar. Honorary pallbearers were Chris Aultman, Jamie Haddox, Davey Bass, Kolby Givens and Chad Bass.
