Funeral services were at 1 p.m. on Wednesday, March 8, 2023, at Colonial Funeral Home for Scott Pittman, 75, who died on Sunday, March 5, at his residence. Burial followed in Hurricane Creek Cemetery. Rev. Zach Smith officiated at the services. Visitation was held from 8 p.m. until 9 p.m. on Tuesday, March 7, and from noon until the time of the services on Wednesday, March 8, at Colonial Funeral Home.
He graduated West Marion High School where he excelled in track and attended Pearl River Junior College on a football scholarship. He was a member of Hurricane Creek Baptist Church, Masonic Lodge #60 in Columbia and Wahabi Shriners Temple in Jackson. He worked as a production foreman with Chevron where he retired after 29 years of employment. He loved music and enjoyed performing as the bass guitarist of the “Yeller Dawg Band.”
He was preceded in death by his son, Brad Pittman; parents, Enoch Pittman and Elma Pittman; and sister, Lena McKenzie.
Survivors include his wife of 55 years, Diane Pittman of Foxworth; daughter, Tiffany Pittman of Hattiesburg; and a host of extended family and friends.
Pallbearers were Bo Garner, Grant Grisham, Garath Fortenberry, Jacob Fortenberry, Todd Dixon, Danny Ryals and Rod McKenzie.
