Funeral services were held at 11 a.m. on Friday, Feb. 24, 2023, at Hathorn Funeral Home for Sheila Ann Blackwell, 73, of Hattiesburg, who died on Monday, Feb. 20. Burial followed in Lott Cemetery in Foxworth. Rev. Darron Terrell officiated at the services. Visitation was held from 5 p.m. until 9 p.m. on Thursday, Feb. 23, at Hathorn Funeral Home.
She was raised in Marion County and spent a great portion of her life here. She loved her family and enjoyed cooking. She was an outgoing person that never met a stranger. She had a gift of being able to talk and connect with people. She touched many lives during her life.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Sidney and Peggy Jo Blackwell; and one brother, Ronald Blackwell.
Survivors include her two sons, Heath Nobles of Hattiesburg and Ragan Kendrick of Ellisville; two daughters, Dulcie Saulters of Hattiesburg and Joanna Wade of Petal; eight grandchildren, Karla Stringer and Derrick Holmes, both of Foxworth, and Collin Dao of Bedford, Texas, Cole Saulters, Dustin Wade, Dalton Wade and Sydney Wade, all of Petal and Madison McDuffie of Hattiesburg; two brothers, Daniel Blackwell (Janice) and Scotty Blackwell, both of Foxworth; five nephews, Cori Blackwell of Iota, La., and Patrick Blackwell, William Stringer, Hunter Stringer and Pacey Fortenberry, all of Foxworth; four nieces, Paige Hilton, Carmen Ezell, Crissy Joyner, all of Foxworth and Crystal Blackwell of Laurel; and a number of great-grandchildren.
Pallbearers were Dustin Wade, Dalton Wade, Collin Dao, Cole Saulters, Patrick Blackwell and Jody Miller. Honorary pallbearers were Frederick Ezell, Daniel Blackwell, Tim McCardle, Toby Minter and Noah Patton.
