Funeral services were held at 3 p.m. on Sunday, Feb. 12, 2023, at Hathorn Funeral Home for Venita Rebecca Hix, 78, of Denham Springs, La., who was called home to be with her Lord and Savior on Wednesday, Feb. 8, in Louisiana surrounded by her children. Burial followed in Woodlawn Cemetery. Rev. Barry Dickerson officiated the services. Chris Turnage and Sherri Turnage provided special music. Visitation was held from 1 p.m. until the time of the services on Sunday, Feb. 12, at Hathorn Funeral Home.
She was baptized at Society Hill Baptist Church in Oak Vale. As a member of Emmanuel Baptist Church in Denham Springs, she loved attending and worshiping with fellow believers. Her hobbies included gardening, crocheting, canning, traveling and loved experiencing new things. Her passion was looking after her grandchildren and cooking for everyone making sure no one went hungry.
She was preceded in death by her spouse, Kenneth Hix; father, Charlie Prine; mother, Maxie McCraw Prine; two brothers, Charles Wayne Prine and Paul Thomas Prine; four sisters, Arcie Dell Prine, Louise Hedgepeth, Merle Louge and Lucille Lowery.
Survivors include her son, Leonard Polk (Melissa); four daughters, Georgia Walker, Trudy Trigg (David), Sally Brantley (Carmen) of Denham Springs, La., and Roberta Jo Patt (Tim); eight grandchildren, Brandy Hernandez (Brandon), Kendall Polk, Kenneth Polk (Ashley), Summer Trigg, Cody Trigg, Derreck Brantley (Taylor), Christopher Patt and Courtney Womble (James).
Pallbearers were Kenneth Polk, Derreck Brantley, Christopher Patt, Cody Trigg, Brandon Hernandez and Johnny Louge. Honorary pallbearers were David Trigg, Carmen Brantley, Billy Roy Prine and Tim Patt.
