Funeral services were held at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, Sept. 25, 2018, at Mt. Carmel Church of God for Bobbie Joe Harrell, 79, of Columbia, who died on Saturday, Sept. 22 in Hattiesburg. Burial followed in Woodlawn Cemetery. Bro. Daniel Smith officiated at the services. Visitation was held from 5 p.m. until 9 p.m. on Monday, Sept. 24 at Hathorn Funeral Home and from 10 a.m. until the time of the services on Tuesday, Sept. 25 at Mt. Carmel Church of God.
As a lifelong resident of Marion County, she loved her work at her beauty shop for 52 years. She cherished her time fellowshipping and visiting with her customers. She loved the Lord and was a faithful member of Mt. Carmel Church of God.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Robert and Era Mae Turnage; one brother, George Turnage, and one sister, Billie Langston.
Survivors include her husband, Willie C. “Bill” Harrell of Columbia; two daughters, Penny Rymarowicz (Gary) and Janice A. Caruana (Anthony), both of Foxworth; one son, Rick Carney (Tanya) of Columbia; one step-daughter, Carmen Wilkinson (Dudley) of Meadville; three sisters, Eva Mae Moree, Peggy Turnage and Jean Turner, all of Columbia; seven grandchildren, Nichole Ingram, Garry Rymarowicz, T.J. Caruana, Krystal Caruana, Michael Rymarowicz, Triston Wilkinson and Parker Wilkinson; 10 great-grandchildren and a number nieces, nephews and friends.
