Elsie Dee Bounds Wilks
91, Doddsville
A celebration of life service was held at noon on Saturday, March 31, 2018, at Colonial Funeral Home for Elsie Dee Bounds Wilks, 91, of Doddsville, formerly of Columbia, who died on Wednesday, March 28, in Ruleville. Burial followed in Woodlawn Cemetery. Rev. John Bell officiated at the services. Visitation was held from 10 a.m. until the time of the services on Saturday, March 31, at Colonial Funeral Home.
She was born on Dec. 18, 1926, to Dee and Myrta Bounds in Sumrall. On June 11, 1948, she married William “Pinkey” Wilks in Columbia. She worked as a telephone operator and clerk for South Central Bell for 30 years before retirement. She enjoyed cooking, sewing and visiting with family and neighbors. She loved her life with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren especially when they took trips to “cousin’s camp” or the beach. She was a Godly servant to her family and others; she was a true prayer warrior.
She was preceded in death by her husband, William “Pinkey” Wilks; parents, Dee and Myrta Bounds; sister, Vernette Broome, and brother, Frank Bounds.
She is survived by her daughters, Marianne Eastland (James) of Doddsville and Nancy Ellard (Al) of Mt. Pleasant, Mich.; five grandchildren, Kimberly Eastland, Elizabeth Joel (Jeff), Stephanie Chabert (Matthew “Spur”), Sara Lee (JR) and Andrew Ellard (Beth); nine great-grandchildren, Justin Joel, Anna James Joel, Cole Chabert, Lainey Chabert, LynLeigh Chabert, Anna Grace Lee, Addie Lee, Jackson Ellard and Katelyn Ellard; three sisters, Faye Smith of Slidell and Honawake Lee and Shirley Bell, both of Hattiesburg, and numerous beloved family members from the Bounds and Wilks families.
Pallbearers were James Eastland, Jeff Joel, Al Ellard, Andrew Ellard, Matthew “Spur” Chabert, JR Lee, Cole Chabert, Justin Joel and Jackson Ellard.
