Funeral services was held at 10 a.m. on Wednesday, Oct. 31, 2018, at Hathorn Funeral Home for Evan Gordon Bourne, 87, of Columbia, who died on Sunday, Oct. 28 at his residence. Burial followed in Woodlawn Cemetery. Chaplain Mike Cochran officiated at the services. Visitation was held from 5 p.m. until 8 p.m. on Tuesday, Oct. 30 at Hathorn Funeral Home.
As a long-time resident of Marion County, he was an avid outdoorsman who loved hunting and fishing. To all that knew him, he is remembered as a kind and loving person. In 2007, he retired from Corr-Williams in Columbia after many years of service as fleet manager.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Herbert and Lela Bourne; wife, Lena Mae Bourne, and his brother, Hugh C. Bourne.
Survivors include his two sons, Ronald Wayne Bourne of Washington, D.C., and Robert Evan Bourne of Washington; one sister, Dora Lee Dickerson of New Hebron; one sister-in-law, Elder Newby of Dothan, Ala., and good friends, Nora Stringer and Glenn Beach, both of Columbia.
