Funeral services were held at 10 a.m. on Monday, Aug. 28, 2017, at Hurricane Creek Baptist Church for Fletcher Fortenberry, 77, of Foxworth, who died on Friday, Aug. 25, in Columbia. Interment followed in the Hurricane Creek Baptist Church Cemetery. The Rev. Justin Fortenberry and the Rev. Zach Smith officiated at the services. Visitation was held from 5 p.m. until 9 p.m. on Sunday, Aug. 27, at Hurricane Creek Baptist Church.
A native of Marion County, he was a carpenter and a member of Hurricane Creek Baptist Church.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Jean Fortenberry.
Survivors include his son, Garath Fortenberry (Stacy) of Foxworth; two sisters, Gale Pittman and Grace Bourne, both of Columbia; two grandchildren, Justin Fortenberry and Jacob Fortenberry; three great-grandchildren, Claudia Fortenberry, Cole Fortenberry and Isaac Fortenberry, and many other friends.
Colonial Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
