Funeral services were held at 10 a.m. on Friday, March 15, 2019, at Hathorn Funeral Home for Gay Stephens Bennett, 90, of Foxworth, who died on Wednesday, March 13 in Hattiesburg. Burial followed in Lott Cemetery. Dr. Tim Parker and Dr. Hiram Campbell officiated at the services. Visitation was held from 5 p.m. until 8 p.m. on Thursday, March 14 at Hathorn Funeral Home.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Ollie and Pent Stephens; two brothers, Everett Stephens and Ray Stephens, and six sisters, Cara Jones, Thora Birnley, Ruby Daniel, Sue Taylor, Dotty Ladner and Joy Howell.
Survivors include her husband of 74 years, Henry Howard Bennett of Foxworth; two sons, Steve Bennett (Carolyn) of Foxworth and James H. Bennett (Wanda) of Hattiesburg; two daughters, Sue Long (Lee Campbell) of Columbia and Linda Stringer (Wayne) of Foxworth; 11 grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren; two brothers, Paul Stephens and Troy Stephens (Ouida), both of Sumrall, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
