Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. on Sunday, Jan. 27, 2019, at Mt. Gilead Baptist Church for Mrs. Gracie Broome, 86, who died on Friday, Jan. 25 in Columbia. Burial followed in Lowland Cemetery. Rev. Dewitt Bain and Rev. Ed Steele officiated at the services.
She was born on Jan. 16, 1933, in Marion County to Johnie Williams and Azzie Broome Williams. She was a homemaker and a member of Mt. Gilead Baptist Church.
She was preceded in death by her parents and her brother, Glyn Williams.
Survivors include her husband of 63 years, H.D. Broom of Bassfield; son, Darrell Broome (Sara) of Bassfield; three brothers, Hubert Williams (Helen) of Petal, Shelton Williams (Sue) of Castro Valley, Calif. and J.C. Williams (Janice) of Ellisville; sister, Lizzie Greer (J.V.) of Columbia, and two grandchildren, Joshua Broome and Drew Broome.
Saulters Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
