Funeral services were held at 10 a.m. on Saturday, June 22, 2019, in Colonial Funeral Home Chapel for Janice Foster, 74, of Columbia, who died on Wednesday, June 19. Burial followed in Woodlawn Cemetery. Rev. Mark McArthur and Rev. Thomas Thurman officiated at the services. Visitation was held from 5:30 p.m. until 8 p.m. on Friday, June 21 at Colonial Funeral Home.
Born in New Orleans, she was a longtime resident of Marion County. She was a homemaker, devoted to her family and a member of Goss Baptist Church.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Richard “RC” Foster; parents, John and Eva May; six brothers, Jack May, Johnny May, Redgie May, Joe May, Charles May and Cecil May.
Survivors include her daughter, Eva Pierce (Jody) of Columbia; two sons, John Richard Foster of Columbia and Mark Foster (Heather) of Gulfport; two sisters, Betty Crawley of Florence and Emma Dufrene (“JR”) of Lockport, La.; two brothers, James May (Carol) of Columbia and David May (Roseann) of Atoka, Tenn., and two grandchildren, Hayes Foster and Anna Leigh Foster.
