Johnnie “J.C.” Brister

Funeral services were held at 1 p.m. on Tuesday, Sept. 4, 2018, in Colonial Funeral Home Chapel for Johnnie “J.C.” Brister, 73, of Columbia, who died on Wednesday, Aug. 29 at his residence. Burial followed in Woodlawn Cemetery. Rev. Dwight Pace and Rev. Tim Burnett officiated at the services. Visitation was held from 5 p.m. until 9 p.m. on Monday, Sept. 3 at Colonial Funeral Home.
A native of Walthall County, he was a veteran of the Army National Guard and was employed 38 years with Georgia Pacific. He was a member of New Bethel Apostolic Church and an avid hunter and fisherman.
He was preceded in death by his granddaughter, Kaitlyn Hughey; parents, James and Ruby Brister; sister, Dolly Ruth Brister, and brothers, James Ray Brister, Jerry Brister and Randy Brister.
Survivors include his wife, Bonnie Brister; four daughters, Tabitha Hughey, Samantha Anderson, Wanda Gail Cupit and Doris Hodges; a son, Danny Dixon; four sisters, Rosalee Ivy, Bonnie Lambert (Arlie), Faye Dunaway (James) and Janet Brister; a brother, Jerome Brister (Linda); 15 grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.
