Funeral services were held at 1 p.m. on Tuesday, Nov. 27, 2018, at Colonial Funeral Home for Mamie Marie Robertson Smith, 100, of Columbia, who died on Thursday, Nov. 22 in Columbia. Burial followed in Smith Cemetery in Morgantown. Rev. Randall Buchanan officiated at the services. Visitation was held from 11 a.m. until the time of the services on Tuesday, Nov. 27 at Colonial Funeral Home.
She was born on July 24, 1918, in Seminary, and was a seamstress and homemaker. She was a member of Morgantown Church of God. Her proudest accomplishment was her family who she loved and adored. She was a daughter, wife, mother and grandmother but most of all, she had a strong spiritual connection with her friend, Jesus. All who knew her knew the strength of her day to day connections with others and the tremendous love and encouragement she offered.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Moses Smith; daughters and sons-in-law, Betty Ladner (Pete), Patricia Davis (Roy) and Suzanne Ray (Johnny); son and daughter-in-law, James Smith (Alison); parents, Bascom and Mary Robertson; grandson, Allen Ladner, and son-in-law, Bob Turner.
Survivors include her three daughters, Cathy Turner of Fort Smith, Ark., Beverly Williamson (Steve) of Morgantown and Dolly Rosato (James) of Summerville, Ga.; son, George Smith (Faye) of Foxworth; 17 grandchildren; 29 great-grandchildren and five great-great-grandchildren.
Pallbearers were Pattrick Ladner, Stephen Smith, Gerald Davis, Neal Hamilton, Mike Turner and Sam Williamson.
