A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. on Saturday, Aug. 22, 2020, at Hathorn Funeral Home for Betty Cooper Hightower, 75, originally of Columbia, who died on Thursday, Aug. 6 in Irondale, Ala. Bro. Brian Stewart will officiate the service at the services. Those attending the service are asked to practice social distancing and adhere to the state-wide mask mandate.
She was born and raised in Columbia. While she lived in many places around the southeast, she truly loved Ocean Springs. During her working years, she spent time in finance and the retail industry. She was an avid sports fan. She enjoyed college football, but she particularly loved cheering for the Atlanta Braves. She also adored her pets. She was of the Baptist faith and will be greatly missed.
She was preceded in death by her father, Mitchell Cooper; mother, Mamie Wilkes; husband, Lynn Hightower; daughter, Tammy Lynn Coker; her children's father, Ford Coker; two brothers, Gary Cooper and Kenneth Cooper, and one granddaughter, Lindsey Nicole Coker.
Survivors include her son, Chris Coker; three grandchildren, Dylan Coker, Shane Coker and Cameron Coker, and one great-grandchild, Skylynn Coker.
