Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. on Wednesday, July 15, 2020, at Hartman Jones Funeral Home for Linda Purtell, 79, of McComb, who died on Sunday, July 12 at her residence. Burial followed in Hollywood Cemetery in McComb. Visitation was held from noon until the time of the services on Wednesday, July 15 at Hartman Jones Funeral Home.
She was a member of Centenary United Methodist Church. She had a master’s degree in education. She taught elementary school for many years in the South Pike and Magnolia area schools. She enjoyed playing golf and tennis. She was a member of a local book club.
She is preceded death by her parents, Hilda Langston Bourne and Paul Bourne; a brother, Scotty Bourne, and stepdaughter, Brooke Purtell.
Survivors include her spouse, Ted Purtell of McComb; stepson, Mike Purtell of Baltimore, Md.; sister, Kathy McPhail (Dennis) of Prentiss, and numerous other friends and relatives.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in her honor to Centenary United Methodist Church, P.O. Box 712 McComb, MS 39649.
