Funeral services were held at noon on Wednesday, Oct. 28, 2020, at Improve Baptist Church for Marie Brewer, 94, of Columbia, who died on Sunday, Oct. 25 in Columbia. Burial followed in Improve Baptist Church Cemetery. Bro. Darel Daniels officiated at the services. Visitation was held from 9:30 a.m. until the time of the services on Wednesday, Oct. 28 at Improve Baptist Church.
A long- time resident of the Improve Community, she was known by everyone as “Maw Maw.” She was quick witted and had a sharp sense of humor. For many years, she served faithfully on the hospitality committee for her church. Alongside her husband, she was a proud supporter of the FFA. She loved being outdoors, camping, cooking for family and gardening. She will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 64 years, Clarence Brewer; parents, Willie and Mittie Williams, and two sisters, Rena Ainsworth and Olene McManus.
Survivors include her daughter, Ann Robertson (Rodney) of Columbia; two sons, David Brewer (Bridget), of Rickman, Tenn., and Allen Brewer (Margie) of Columbia; one sister, Pauline Bailey; 13 grandchildren, Robert “Robby” Bennett (Leslee), Jeremy Bennett (Brandie), Melissa “Sissy” Wilks (Porter), Natasha Carrier (Chris), Chad Brewer (Candis), Duncan Tucker (Paige), Benton “Buck” Tucker (Nichol), Alex Brewer (Mindy), Bailey Brewer, Kristi Dease (Scott), Brittany Morgan (Jake), Kayla Mullins, Mathew Mullins; 34 great-grandchildren, 11 great-great-grandchildren and a host of nieces and nephews.
Pallbearers were Robert “Robby” Bennett, Jeremy Bennett, Chad Brewer, Alex Brewer, Chris Carrier and Duncan Tucker. Honorary pallbearers were Porter Wilks, Chuck Brewer and Benton “Buck” Tucker.
