Marvin Sherwood Holmes
Funeral services were held at 2:00 PM on Saturday, Nov. 7, 2020, at Hathorn Funeral Home for Marvin Sherwood Holmes, 61, of Columbia, who died on Wednesday, Nov. 4. Burial followed in Kokomo Cemetery. Bro. Curtis Roland and Sister Linda Cox officiated at the services. Visitation was held from 11 a.m. until the time of the services on Saturday, Nov. 7 at Hathorn Funeral Home.
As a longtime resident of Marion County, he was one of the founding members of the Marion County Bee Keepers Association. He was a beekeeper for 35 years. He was a member of the Masonic Lodge of Varnel #282 for over thirty years and was a 32nd degree Mason. He loved the outdoors and was an avid hunter and fisherman. He loved spending time with his family and grandchildren. He was a very sociable and outgoing man that never met a stranger. He was a faithful member of Dexter Pentecostal Church. He would do absolutely anything for his loving wife, Regina. He was the most amazing man anyone could ever know. He will be greatly missed by all who loved and knew him.
He was preceded in death by his father, Claude Holmes Sr.; mother, Mary “Ferne” Holmes, and one brother, John “Johnny” Wesley.
Survivors include his wife of four years, Regina Holmes; three sons, Matthew Holmes (Jessica), Jasen Pruitt (Sam) and Carey Pruitt; two granddaughters, Kinsley Mariee Holmes, Natalie Faith Pruitt and one on the way, Delilah Faith Holmes; two brothers, Harold Holmes (Lynn), Butch Holmes; one sister, Daisy McKenzie, and a number of nieces and nephews.
Pallbearers were Mathew Holmes, Jasen Pruitt, Carey Pruitt, Clayton Holmes, Jordan Holmes, Kevin Sumrall and Derek Dufrene.
