Funeral services were held at 10 a.m. on Friday, Sept. 18, 2020, at Colonial Funeral Home for Sylvia Thompson, 77, of Columbia, who died on Monday, Sept. 14 in Columbia. Burial followed in New Bunker Hill Cemetery. Rev. Brian Stewart officiated at the services. Visitation was held from 9 a.m. until the time of the services on Friday, Sept. 18 at Colonial Funeral Home.
She was a longtime resident of Columbia and was of the Pentecostal faith.
She was preceded in death by parents, Buford Thompson and Mary Elizabeth Yeager Thompson.
Survivors include her daughter, Pamela Hamilton (Terry) of Oak Vale; son, Ray Oswalt (Teri) of Brandon; brother, Carlie Thompson (Nancy) of Florence; eight grandchildren, Kristy Robbins (Randall), Jacob Cook (Kristen), David Cook (Allison), Carley Carter (Alex), Blace Hamilton, Justin Oswalt (Amanda), Corey Oswalt (Kayla), and Colby Oswalt (Chelsea); 17 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-granddaughter.
