William “Rex” Allen

Graveside services were held at 1 p.m. on Friday, Oct. 30, 2020, in New Bunker Hill Cemetery for William “Rex” Allen, 65, of Columbia, who died on Tuesday, Oct. 27. Dr. Pat Sanford officiated at the services.
As a longtime resident of Marion County, he served our country faithfully for 26 years. He retired as sergeant in the United States Army. He was known by all as a kind and gentle soul. After retiring from the military, he served as computer tech for the Marion County School District. He considered everyone there as family. He also loved to listen to and play music as well as watching movies and attending music concerts. He was an avid USM and New Orleans Saints fan. He loved his little dog, Sadie. He will be missed by all who knew him.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Dorothy Allen, and grandparents, William “Flave” and Alice Allen and W.Z. and Clara Earls.
Survivors include his father, Winston Allen; one sister, Kathy Harvey (Joe); one nephew, T.J. Harvey; one niece, Jordan McNabb (Chance); one great-niece, Chanley McNabb; one great-nephew, Sawyer McNabb; one aunt, Ann Swieter; a number of cousins and one fur companion, Sadie.
Pallbearers were Chance McNabb, Roger Graham, Kenny Mills, John Sabine, Tim Bryant and Marvin Adams.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made in Rex’s memory to the Marion County/Columbia Animal Shelter Fund at the Columbia Animal Hospital, 1409 Hwy 98 E, Columbia, MS 39429.
