Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, May 16, 2020, at Faithway Baptist Church for Elder Mills, 70, of Bassfield, who died on Saturday, May 9 in Columbia. Elder Dewitt Baines, Elder Brent Robbins and Elder David Moree will officiate at the services. Burial will follow in Bethel Baptist Church Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 5:30 p.m. until 8:30 p.m. on Friday, May 15, and from 10 a.m. until the time of the services on Saturday, May 16 at Faithway Baptist Church.
He was born on Dec. 19, 1949, in Laurel, to Lawrence Ray Mills and Edith Mae Holifield Mills. Elder Mills attended PRCC. He owned Mills Body Shop and was a faithful preacher since 1985. His church affiliations include, Faithway Baptist Church, Shiloh Baptist in Kosciusko, French Road Baptist in Indianola, Southgate Baptist in Monticello, Grace Baptist in Columbia and Cooley Springs Baptist in Mt. Olive.
He was preceded in death by his mother and father.
Survivors include his wife of 50 years, Emma Moree Mills of Bassfield; two sons, Freddy L. Mills Jr. (Angele) of Ocean Springs and Bro. John Mills (Michelle) of Lucedale; five grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
Pallbearers will be Christian James Giveans, Walker Mills, Dennis Robbins, Ronnie Williamson, Jason Matheny, Trent Williamson, Clay Williamson and Richard Sullivan.
