Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. on Friday, June 5, 2020, at New Union Baptist Church for Elder Mathew Graham, 89, who died on Tuesday, June 2 in Columbia. Burial followed in New Union Cemetery. Elder Darren Webb, Elder Wilford Knight and Elder Wylie Graham officiated at the services. Visitation was held from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m. on Thursday, June 4, and from 1 p.m. until the time of the services on Friday, June 5 at New Union Baptist Church.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Lyman Graham and Maude Mays Graham; stepmothers, Maybell Skaggs and Gladys Graves; a sister, Bonnie Graves; brothers, David Graham, James Graham, Bolton Graham and Kenneth Graham, and stepbrothers, Harland Skaggs, Garland Skaggs, James Graves and John Graves.
Survivors include his wife of 63 years, Juanita Randall Graham of Columbia; three daughters, Dora Pounds (Don) and Lorna Patterson (Tim), both of Eupora, and Lisa Nolan (Stacy) of Columbia; three sons, Walter Graham (Becky) of Mena, Alaska, and Wylie Graham (Kay) and Mark Graham, both of Columbia; brothers-in-law, Austin Randall of Columbia and Bruce Randall (Pat) of Birmingham, Ala.; 11 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren and a host of nieces and nephews.
