Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Friday, Feb. 7, 2020, at Hathorn Funeral Home for Garland Monroe Earls, 84, of Columbia, who died on Sunday, Feb. 2 in Columbia. Burial will follow in Lott Cemetery in Foxworth. Bro. Timothy Beard will officiate at the services. Visitation will be held from 5 p.m. until 9 p.m. on Thursday, Feb. 6 at Hathorn Funeral Home.
As a long-time resident of Marion County, he was an avid outdoorsman that loved camping on the river. A devoted husband, loyal employee and friend, he will always be remembered for his soft-spoken spirit that was always willing to help. His family always brought a smile to his face and was his most cherished possession.
He was preceded in death by his parents, W.Z. and Clara Earls; wife of 53 years, Verlee Pace Earls; one son, Ronald Moree; one grandson, Kiel McKenzie; two brothers, William Earls and Louie Earls, and three sisters, Dorothy Allen, Frances Lowe and Elizabeth Earls.
Survivors include his two daughters, Kathy Graham (Roger) of Columbia and Laura Fitts (Joe) of Green Brier, Ark.; one son, Donald Moree of Monterey, La.; one sister, Ann Swieter of Dewey, Okla.; six grandchildren, Shea Sims (Brannon), Rose Taylor (Drew), Jake Fitts, Shelby Fitts, Garrett Fitts and James Box (Amber), and nine great-grandchildren, Preston Taylor, Nolan Taylor, Brett Sims, Kaleb Sims, Sadie Sims, Paxton Box, Laine Box, River Box and Addi Hollis.
Pallbearers will be Ben Stringer, Rex Allen, Brannon Sims, Daryl Powell, Joe Herring and Mitchell Pace.
