Jerry L. Germany, 70, died Monday, June 22, 2020, at his residence in Sandy Hook. A lifelong resident of Sandy Hook, he farmed cattle since his teen years and retired after working 50 years as a residential carpenter. Mr. Germany was a member of Hurricane Creek Baptist Church.
Mr. Germany was preceded in death by his parents, Chester Lee Germany and Dovie Sue McKenzie Germany. He is survived by his wife of 36 years, Dee Germany of Sandy Hook; a son, Bobby Germany and his wife, Leann, of Sandy Hook; his sister, Jennifer George and her husband, Gary of Bogalusa, La.; brother, Joel Germany of Sandy Hook; and three grandchildren, Bailey Germany, Breanna Germany and Brayden Germany.
Visitation was from 5 p.m. until 9 p.m. on Wednesday, June 24, 2020, at Colonial Funeral Home in Columbia. Funeral services were held at 10 a.m. on Thursday, June 25, 2020, at the funeral home chapel with visitation from 9 a.m. until service time. Rev. Zachary Smith presided over services, and interment followed at Hurricane Creek Cemetery assisted by Grant Grisham, Gareth Fortenberry, Richard Adcox, Dewayne Ervin, Derrick Jerkins and Raymond McKenzie served as pallbearers.
Colonial Funeral Home in Columbia is entrusted with arrangements.
