Joe Glen Taylor
33, Foxworth
Funeral services were held at 3 p.m. on Friday, March 13, 2020, in the Colonial Funeral Home Chapel for Joe Glen Taylor, 33, of Foxworth, who passed away from this life on Saturday, March 7. Burial followed in Victory Congregational Methodist Church Cemetery. Rev. Max Campbell and Bishop Willard Powell officiated at the services. Visitation was held from 5 p.m. until 9 p.m. on Thursday, March 12 at Colonial Funeral Home.
As a lifelong resident of Marion County, he loved the outdoors and especially loved spending time with his daughters, Kiley Taylor and Emiley Taylor. He also had a place in his heart for animals and was often seen tending to his dog, building a pen for chickens or feeding a litter of puppies.
He cherished the times spent with his brothers and always wanted the best for them even though “horns” would lock at times. He would say, “Well that’s what brothers do, but I love them just the same.” Everyone who knew him understood how much he loved his children. In conversation, no time would pass without him talking about them.
He was a graduate of West Marion High School and attended Victory Congregational Methodist Church. He was employed with various local contractors in Marion County, including Rowell Roofing Company. He also worked with his stepfather installing floors throughout Forrest and Marion Counties.
He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Cecil and Maudie Taylor, Ted Sherrill and Maxine Hammonds; uncle, R.C. Taylor, and aunt, Ann Taylor.
Along with his two daughters, survivors include his mother, Marilyn McWhorter (Mike); his father, Sammy Sherrill; four sisters, Shelby Sherrill, Michelle McWhorter, Lorri McWhorter and Ashton McWhorter; six brothers, Damian McWhorter, Joel McWhorter, Waylon Lewis, Jesse Lewis, Tony Sherrill and Jeffrey McWhorter, and a host of extended family members and friends.
Pallbearers were Cory Graham, Timothy Woodward, Rusty Freeman, Johnny Sherrill, Joey Stogner and Dusty Netherland.
