She was born on Aug. 29, 1926, in Kelsey, Texas, the second of eight children. She moved to Mississippi at the age of 8 during the Depression and never left the state. She and her husband lived for over 26 years in Olive Branch, and then retired and moved to Columbia to live near her two sisters, Verda Bracey and Neva Hembury. She was a bank teller in her professional career but retired early to travel with her husband. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother who enjoyed outside activities, cooking, sewing, all sports and playing games with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She was also an avid Mississippi State fan!
Her homecoming was celebrated with her husband of 55 years, W. Ray Magee; parents, Archie and Lilly Fair Lindsey; her daughter, Loretta Gale Cooke; her four sisters and two brothers.
Survivors include her son, Phillip R. Magee (Dauphine) of Brookhaven; her sister, Kay Smith of Tylertown; five grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.
The family would like to offer special thanks to the Aspen of Brookhaven for the excellent care provided, including Macy Givens, Jennifer Byther, Shirley Hall, Tyler Thames, Erica Spencer and many others.
