Graveside services were held at 1 p.m. on Wednesday, Jan. 15, 2020, in Woodlawn Cemetery for Randy Thomas Brown, 68, of Columbia, who died on Monday, Jan. 13 at his residence. Elder Willard Powell officiated at the services. Visitation was held from 11 a.m. until 12:45 p.m. on Wednesday, Jan. 15 at Hathorn Funeral Home in Columbia.
As a longtime resident of Marion and Walthall County, he was an avid hunter and outdoorsman. He loved nature and was happiest when walking through the woods. Many memories were made between him and his parents, and one of their fondest together was salt water fishing. Everyone that knew Randy understood how he cherished his friendships. As a 1973 graduate of the University of Southern Mississippi, he was owner and operator of Western Auto in Tylertown for 45 years.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Tom and Mayzell Brown, and one sister, Wixie Ann Brown.
Survivors include his wife of 27 years, Peggy McWhorter Brown of Columbia; one stepdaughter, Valerie Rodriguez (Patrick) of Carlsbad, Calif.; two grandchildren, Patrick "P.J." Rodriguez and April Rodriguez, both of Carlsbad, Calif.; one sister-in-law, Salty Pendarvis of Columbia; one brother-in-law, Mike McWhorter (Marilyn) of Tylertown, and a number of nieces and nephews.
Pallbearers were Donnie Byas, Cass Barnes, Vernon Watts, Neal Goldman, Joel McWhorter and Jeffrey McWhorter.
