Funeral services were at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, Dec. 18, 2018, at Oak Ridge Funeral Home for Rev. William Leo “W.L.” Owens, 89, of Winter Haven, who died on Friday, Dec. 14. Burial followed in Rolling Hills Cemetery in Winter Haven. Rev. Don Hooper officiated at the services. Visitation was held from 10 a.m. until the time of the services on Tuesday, Dec. 18 at Oak Ridge Funeral Home.
He was retired from the ministry with the Church of God, Cleveland, Tenn., after 34 years of service.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Thaddeus and Katie Owens; three siblings and son, William Leo Owens Jr.
Survivors include his wife of almost 70 years, Sarah Bynum Owens of Winter Haven; four children, Beki Dixon of Shreveport, La., Gwen McCool (Pat) of Hattiesburg, Sam Owens (Melanie) of Virginia Beach, Va. and Nathan Owens (Kerri) of Winter Haven; 11 grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren.
