Wilda Faye Ratliff McSwain
84, Columbia
A graveside service was held at 10 a.m. on Tuesday, Sept. 11, 2018, in Mt. Sinai Church of God Cemetery in Foxworth for Wilda Faye Ratliff McSwain, 84, of Columbia, who took the hand of the Lord and walked into heaven with the angels on Sept. 9. Bro. A.D. Gammill Jr. officiated at the services.
She began her working career at Rutter-Rex, where her attention to detail landed her a position as a piece inspector. After leaving Rutter-Rex, she became the voice of Ken's Pest Control for 20 years to all those in the Columbia and surrounding areas. She was lovely known as Mama, Maw-Maw and Nana to her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She loved simple things such as beautiful flowers, hummingbirds, a good cold Coke, the crisp fall air and the array of colors of the fall season in the mountains. We celebrate her life in the many different ways she touched the hearts of her family and friends so dearly.
She was the wife of the late Joe McSwain and the daughter of Willie B. Ratliff and Annie M. Dunaway Ratliff of the Darbun community.
She was preceded in death by her brothers, O. V. Ratliff and Billy C. Ratliff.
She is survived by one son, David Brasseal (Tressie) of Lumberton; two daughters, Sheila Ann Brasseal Fultz of Hollsopple, Pa., and Cynthia Brasseal (Buddy Broome) of Columbia; seven grandchildren, Anna Brasseal, Kendra Dement and Kelly Dyess Hurst, all of Columbia, Joshua Fultz and Emily Fultz, both of Hollsopple, Pa., Lacy Stampley of Lumberton and Laken Stines of Atlanta; 11 great-grandchildren and one nephew, Lynn Ratliff of Foxworth.
Family and friends may sign an online guestbook at www.hathornfuneralhome.com.
Hathorn Funeral Home in Columbia was in charge of the arrangements.
