Funeral services were held at 10 a.m. on Tuesday, June 19, 2018, at Hathorn Funeral Home for Wilda Holmes Calhoun, 87, of Columbia, who died on Saturday, June 16 at her daughter’s residence. Burial followed in Foxworth Cemetery. Bishop James Carney officiated at the services. Visitation was held from 5 p.m. until 9 p.m. on Monday, June 18 at Hathorn Funeral Home.
She was preceded in death by her husbands, Lewis Holmes, Lee Adams, Vernon Long and David Calhoun; parents, Thomas and Etta Spiers; one sister, Hilda Patterson; two brothers, Thomas (Bubba) Spiers and Baby Spiers.
Survivors include her five daughters, Georgia Ann Hathorn (Jim), Christine Singley (Isaac), M. Catherine Holmes, Dorothy J. Holmes and Wilda F. Sumrall, all of Kokomo; one son, Benjamin L. Holmes of Columbia; one sister, Grace E. Bedwell of Foxworth; one brother, Jackie E. Spiers of Zwolle, La., and a number of grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren.
