Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. on Monday, Feb. 10, 2025, at St. George Orthodox Church for Alex Habeeb, 78, of Madison, who passed away on Feb. 7, at his home, surrounded by loved ones. Burial followed in Cedar Hill Cemetery. Visitation was held from 1 p.m. until the time of the services on Monday, Feb. 10, at St. George Orthodox Church.

Born April 1, 1946, to Touphie and Mable Habeeb, he enjoyed a lively childhood
among family and friends on Prospect and Drummond Street. A 1964 graduate of
Cooper High School, he furthered his education at Mississippi State and the Banking
Institute at the University of Virginia. Military service included time in the Army National
Guard. He was a devoted husband of 54 years to his wife, Kate Morgan. Together they
shared a comfortable life in Madison. His professional life included full careers with
Deposit Guaranty Bank and Owens & Minor. Always an avid golfer, he found ease in
retirement on the golf course, in his recliner watching old westerns and the Sports
Channel, and on Thursday game day with his wife and sisters.
He was preceded in death by his parents and brother-in-law, Jeff Morgan.
Survivors include his wife, Kate; sisters, Ann Habeeb of Vicksburg and Pamela Boozer
(Michael) of Pulaski; nieces, Elizabeth Hearding (Daniel) of Madison and
Sarah Scafidi (Dean) of Pearl; great-nephew, Dexter; sister-in-law, Refa Smith of
Morgantown; and a wealth of devoted family and friends.
Pallbearers were Michael Boozer, Scott Morgan, Gregory Thomas, Joe Stradinger, Todd
Matheny, Hunter Pittman, Buzz Smith and his sisters. Honorary pallbearers were Doug
Panzone, Charley Fulton, Catherine Stradinger, Teri Pittman, Mary Smith, Shelby Smith and Peter Buttross.
Fisher-Riles Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
